Ross - have you been watching the CME action with the sun? We've got two BIG CME's heading toward earth again. The last time this happened - maybe a month ago? It caused some minor electrical problems, smart TV's got lines in them, cell phones messed up. These are larger and could cause more problems, think Carrington Event. Those two should hit in the next day or two.
Zech 12:4 - 'smiting every horse with astonishment and his rider with madness' an electrical storm that's the result of a CME could certainly mess up some communication and electronics.
